Biography

Nata a Gorizia nel 1954. Insegnante nelle scuole elementari fino al 1993, si dedica alla pittura su vetro fin dai primi anni Ottanta, per ampliare e approfondire successivamente la ricerca con l'illustrazione e la creazione di opere bi/tridimensionali (installazioni e sculture). Nel 1995 partecipa al film della Televisione Slovena "La Storia del Cantastorie". In questo percorso che è anche una ricerca della propria identità, parte dai paesaggi per confrontarsi infine con la corporeità (serie dipinti e sculture MySELF, SHE, Siren) e scegliere la performance come strumento espressivo preferenziale. Le prime azioni sono in Irlanda nel 2003, in occasione della "visiting artist residency" al Cill Rialaig durante la quale sviluppa un progetto sul delfino Fungi che mette in rapporto con la preesistente identità artistica di Sirena (SHEren). Seguono performance a Madrid (2003, 2005 e 2006), in Finlandia (2004), in Germania per il Minden Art Festival (2005 e 2007), a Città del Messico (a "Performagia4" nel 2006, dove tiene anche la conferenza "SHEren in A-MexicO"), a Londra per la London Biennale (2006) e in Italia. Ha raccolto immagini di persone, luoghi e situazioni coinvolti nella poetica 'cetacea' nel progetto aperto "SHEren&dolpHEn". È attiva nel network dell'arte postale e nel web. Con la preziosa collaborazione del musicista Dario Della Rossa (compositore e pianista di Cosenza) sperimenta, indaga, esplora il ponte tra la fisicità del movimento e l'intangibilità della musica. Insieme realizzano progetti 'aperti' (performance, CD multimediali o azioni 'libere'). Talvolta, come nel caso di Santa Maria di Leuca nel 2005, delle Musiche da Viaggio per il Museo di Riola di Vergato (Bologna), di "Action in G" per Garibaldi o di "Son@Da per Trio" per la Giornata della Memoria, si ritrovano 'dal vivo' per studiare, sperimentare e realizzare percorsi comuni. Born in Gorizia in 1954. Primary school teacher in the primary school up to 1993, she started painting in the early Eighties with the technique of oil-behind-glass. She continued then with acrylics on board and canvas, undertaking at the same time three-dimensional works and installations. In 1995 she took part in the film "La Storia del Cantastorie" produced by Slovenian Television. In this journey that is also a research about identity, she started from surrealistic landscapes to arrive at a concreteness of the body (paintings and installations of the series MySELF, SHE, Siren) ending up with choosing the performance as her métier. The first actions were in Ireland during the visiting artist residency at Cill Rialaig (reconfirmed for July 2008) developing a project about a dolphin named Fungi and connecting it with the pre existing identity of Siren (SHEren). Performances followed in Madrid (2003, 2005 and 2006), in Finland (2004), in Germany for Minden Art Festival (2005 and 2007), in Mexico City (at "Performagia4" in 2006) where she gave the talk "SHEren in A-MexicO", in London for London Biennale (2006) and in Italy. She has started the ongoing project "SHEren&dolpHEn": images of persons, places and contexts involved so far in the 'cetacean' poetic. She is also active in the mail-art network and in the web. With the precious collaboration of the musician Dario Della Rossa (composer and pianist) she experiments, investigates and explores the bridge between the physicality of the body and the intangibility of the music. Together they make 'open' projects such as performances, multi medial CDs or 'free actions'. Sometimes - as in the case of Santa Maria di Leuca in 2005, of the Travelling Music for the Tarots' Museum of Riola di Vergato (Bologna), of "Action in G" for Garibaldi or of the latest "Son@Da per Trio" (involving Dorothea Fayne, opera singer from Berlin) for the Day of Holocaust Memory&Mozart's birthday, they meet 'live' so as to put common actions and plans right.
