On August 30th 2016, in Gaeta (Latina, Italy), from 19:30, at the Terrazza Borbonica in via Bausan 1 (better known as Punta dello Stendardo) “A Corpo Libero”, a tribute for Goliarda Sapienza will take place.
The performance “Re-vault” closes the tribute at 21:00.

Immersed in a nocturnal vault approaching the new moon, a performance for Goliarda starts off. It happens from Gaeta sea, inhabited by Sirens, and so beloved by her.
« What I have thought for you and I will discover on the shore is not a lifeless bust of Sea and Sky. This textile bust/pillow is meant to attract the traces of your memories, fleeting for the most but well evident to the heart of many. It perfumes of liberty and joy and I have named it “Re-vault”, aka Arcana XVI. Once filled with our affinities, with veils/waves along with consonant tunes, it will become a soft pillow to cuddle the revived memories of you. A sort of calisthenics for the soul will take place on August 30th, 2016, exactly twenty years after your departure from this physical world. Forever in our heARTs ».

July news: Magritte, Re-vault, Kingsley Hall

This July 2016 my house has ceased, at dusk, to look like the one painted by Magritte in “L’Empire des Lumières” in 1954 (my birth year). The street-lamps have been substituted: the big ball that used to light the façade from the middle has been replaced with led lamps on higher stems.
In the meantime I started to work on Arcan #16 that I have provisionaly named “Re-vault” . It’s a soft textile bust of Sky and Sea that I am preparing for a performance for the twenty years from the death of Goliarda Sapienza, the author of “The Art of Joy”. She will be remembered in Gaeta on August 30th. “Re-vaults” features the night heaven with Antares of Scorpio and the theme of fertility underneath. It continues and widens the work on the Tarots.
A series of 22 little instant books about “Che Guevara” with original rubberstamps in it, is also ready. These follows the booklet “LC: Laura Cristin for Letizia Comba” that was given out at London Biennale opening in Rome and through the mailart.
Around the 22 of July, in coincidence with the 80th B.day of my friend Dawn Redwood, I will renew my pilgrimage to London. This time, the Brex-it broke my memory of the first imprintings of freedom received there, in the ’70ies. Though, I will get acquainted with the community center of Kingsley Hall where Letizia Comba met Ronald Laing. There, in the place run by the Leisters since the early ‘900, the heaven has seen many peaceful artenative revolts even before the psychiatric one, like the suffragettes’ or the march of hunger. Mahatma Gandhi stayed there for 12 weeks.

Category : performance, mailart, around the world Jun 1st, 2016

The latest participation in London Biennale opening in Rome with disc-performance-video has continued through the snail mail. On 18th May, 33 postcards Palmanova-Rome were sent from Sempeter in Slovenia, worldwide. Each one had a card of Rome (ATC 41 series)in the rear, supposed to be lifted by the addressee so to disclose a personal message written in calligraphy, with different colours of ink.

“Ogni volta è la prima volta” by Marsilio & London Biennale

Category : exhibitions, performance, around the world May 9th, 2016

On May 13th, from 15:30 at Salone del Libro di Torino, Padiglione 1, Spazio Incontri to be precise, the book “Ogni volta è la prima volta” by Marsilio editore will be presented. The book contains the 21 finalist stories of the AVIS contest held at Pordenonelegge 2015.
“La prima volta a Roma” of mine is among them.
I had practiced and re-invented that story alive at the opening of London Biennale in Rome (May 1-2-3) at Studio.ra and Studio RO.MI with the main performance “hell-HEAL-hill” that followed a inter-action with Reynolds’ “Chemo Dragon Emergency Room”: I had drawn a Siren on her breast and chest. I had donated to Raffaella Losapio a platinum disc with the apple of OB-LA-DI, OB-LA-DA. The international meeting along the idea of David Medalla and his coordinator Adam Nankervis was wonderful, for the freedom that allows to all sort of personal ways of art/creativity.

In the first days of May I will take part in London Biennale opening in Rome, with a disc, a performance and a video.
On May 1st, from 17:00, at Studio.ra in via Platino 1 F, I will donate to Raffaella Losapio 1 of the 4 revisitated copies of the original vinyl recorded in Rome in ’68, for the 10th anniversary of her gallery; then I will participate in Reynolds’ performance “Emergency Room” by drawing a Chemo Dragon Chimera on her breast.
On May 2nd, from 17:00 at Valle della Caffarella, the main performance “hell-HEAL-hill” will take place: I will go back to my first time in Rome, in January ’68, so to make a synchronisation/syncopation in theme with this year’s LB of David Medalla.
On May 3rd, from 18:00 at Studio RO.MI in via Vetulonia, 55, the video “for Letizia Comba (1932-2000)” who was on the train with me in ’68, will be shown among the selection.
A series of ATCards with full detail of each day has been made and will be given out to LB participants and to the audience.

Words about Rome, Bosch&Bruegel images

Category : exhibitions, around the world Feb 20th, 2016

The (true) story “La prima volta a Roma” is finalist at the AVIS contest. It will be published with the other selected, in the book “La prima volta” by Marsilio Editori. The first three will be announced in an event in Mantova, next May. Incidentally, I have been in Rome recently and there old memories of that journey in ’68 with Letizia Comba arose. They will be expressed on May 1st in a performance at London Biennale opening coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Studio.ra.

Mary Christmas project

Category : performance, mailart, around the world Dec 19th, 2015

Today I sent to (mailart) friends worldwide 1 parcel and 26 letters of various sizes. I sent them all from a village in Slovenia (just across Basaglia’s Park in Gorizia) where postage rates are cheaper than in Italy. The ‘Xmas affair has kept me busy in the last weeks. Just by doing – a little, but different thought for each one of the adressees – a more complex project took shape. Will be fully documented in the “Works” section shortly.

The first vinyl and the first travel to Rome

Category : exhibitions, performance, around the world Nov 9th, 2015

My contributions “the first travel to Rome” (text) and “the first vinyl” (photo) take part in “La prima volta” of AVIS. It is a contest to make the people aware of the importance of the deed of gift of blood/life. My text and photo points up and investigate the not-so-ephemeral effects of love donations.

My name-day at EXPO

Laura Cristin among alive memories on her name day 19th October in Rodi Garganico (2005) and at Expo in Milan (2015)

At my name-day, on October 19th, exactly 10 years after the finding of a 100 % pure plastic (inflatable) dolphin in Apulia, I visited the Expo in Milan. Entering in the site and finding a vital space in the overcrowding (the greedy profit did not resist to selling too many tickets!) was such an effort! Though, pavillions were interesting and even more the exhibition “Arts&Foods” in the city, where the (inflatable) cow “Carolina” of my childhood was displayed. Most of all I enjoyed staying with like-minded people, met again (by chance?) after Apulia and others that were/are constantly in my heART.
